EPMDのDEF JAM移籍後の第一弾。当時無敵を誇っていたDEF JAMからのリリースということはつまり半ばクラシックが確定していたともいえます。EPMDは好きな人は絶対に好き、そうで無い人でも一度は耳にすると勝手に思っていますが、このアルバムは素通り不可な一枚。もはや金字塔。1stや2ndにあった時代の空気(つまり80's的なショボさ)は殆ど無く、完全たるEPMDの世界を築いていると言えます。触っただけで手が黒くなるかの様な音塊の数々、太いベースにビート、モタモタっとした2人のラップ... 全てがファンク。そこには爽快感など皆無です。このアルバムをピークに次作(これも傑作)で一度解散、その後再結成、中途半端な復活弾後封印というなんとも煮え切らない末路を辿った彼等。４枚目でキッチリと解散しておけばよい後味を残せたでしょうに。その点だけが残念でなりません。
